OktoBEARfest Goes Virtual!

When we officially announced the 2020 OktoBEARfest 5K Fun Run & Festival in February, we had every intent of hosting the (now our third annual event) in person. Like everyone, we didn't expect the COVID-19 pandemic to still be a challenge and threat to the public's safety. Unfortunately, we simply cannot get a permit to host a live event, so we have now switched to a completely virtual run. We will all be celebrating our German spirit from a safe distance!

The great news is that the 5K participants will be getting a finisher's medal, t-shirt, goody bag, race bib and certificate. Plus, we'll be announcing some fun experiences and prize giveaways from our sponsors along the way. We've added a kid's 1K virtual run, and you can even get a Bears Who Care teddy bear as part of your registration. Our goal will be to have as much fun with this event as we possibly can!

*What is a virtual fun run?*

The OktoBEARfest Fun Run is safe and convenient, because you decide where and when you want to complete it. Choose your own starting line, whether it's your neighborhood street, a treadmill or the official OktoBEARfest route. Then, run or walk the race distance (5K or 1K) – even over multiple days. You can also upload your finishing time to show you officially completed the race. Challenge yourself to complete a goal or get a group together (there is a special rate for groups up to 5) and participate remotely. You decide how you want to participate.

For 2021 we are optimistic that our fourth annual event will be in person again and more "bearrific" than ever!
